Health Measurement
There are essentially three core components of health measurement: structural, biochemical, and functional.
However, all health measurements are ultimately related to various levels of function. Some of these functions you cannot see or feel (such as mitochondrial function), and some of these functions you can (such as walking).
Every day, common activities that we take for granted, like walking, are actually very complex. Our ability to perform these activities results from the collective effort of thousands of small activities working together. Ultimately, your health is built from the cellular level up. To optimize health, we need to understand what health is and identify deviations from it. Various technologies are used to create a database of variables for which normal, optimal, or dysfunctional ranges can be determined.
